绘本馆最新动向！
上个星期，我们有幸邀请了MAX&MEI的作者－MARTHA KESWICK，为两班一、二年级的学生介绍她的新书。
MAX & MEI系列主要是利用华人的十二生肖，展开麦思和美美的奇遇记。
除了精彩的故事之外，还附上了活动本，让孩子们能够练习写字、画图、认生字等。
MARTHA正在用英语和华语向学生们说故事。学生们都听得入神。
听完了故事，学生们都踊跃地回答与故事有关的问题。
恭喜这个二年级的同学答对了！她从MARTHA的手中获得了一本故事书。
一年级的同学在回答问题时也非常认真。

Parent Volunteers Needed!
Chinese Pictorial Book Corner of NYPS has finally finished its STOCK-TAKING!From next week onwards, all Parent Volunteers of CL pictorial book corner and teachers of NYPS are allowed to borrow the pictorial books out of the library. We have about 1000 Pictorial Books in the library and another 300 new books coming in 2 weeks later. We always update the corner with new books freshly imported in from countries such as China and Taiwan.
*NOTE: Only Parents who are helping out at the Pictorial Book Corner are allowed to borrow the books out of the library.
The pupils are still unable to borrow the books out of the library as the books are still relatively new and expensive. We may look into the probability of enabling the pupils to borrow these books out of the library from next year onwards when we managed to find parent volunteers who can help out with the administrative work.
Currently, we need 1-2 Parent Volunteers who can help us facilitate the borrowing and returning of CL Pictorial books in and out of the library. With your help, the pupils can therefore borrow and return the books in and out of the library.
Although we have a librarian in the library, she is unable to help out as her job scope does not require her to handle matters of the CL Pictorial Book Corner. The books from the CL Pictorial Book Corner are also not recorded into the library system.
Therefore, we would like to appeal for Parent Volunteers who are willing to help out as a librarian of the library, and facilitate the borrowing and returning of Pictorial Books. Your job is to help take down names and contact numbers of those who came to borrow/return Pictorial Books and remind them of the date of return. Also, you may have to track down those who have forgotten to return the books before the deadline.
Working time is flexible. You may report to the library at 8.30am and leave at 12pm sharp from Monday-Friday. If we manage to find more parent volunteers, we may look into staggering your schedule so that you may not have to report to the library 5 days a week.
There is no requirement for you to speak fluent mandarin.If you are interested to be part of us, please kindly email me at lim_ke_xin@nyps.edu.sg or call me in school to find out more.

什么是绘本？
绘本英文称Picture Book,顾名思义就是“画出来的书”。
早期绘本称为图画书时，通俗的说法是指有图画、简单主题、情节内容简短的故事书；
主要是针对幼儿、儿童所设定的出版品，多以适合幼儿、儿童阅读的内容为取向，但也有成人可以阅读的绘本，目的在于教育和启发孩童的心智成长，书中的图画和文字有助于孩童们的学习力。
南洋小学绘本馆目前有超过1000本绘本图书，包括来自中国及台湾最新进口的书籍。
当初创设绘本馆的目的就是能够将绘本介绍给学生，让他们重燃阅读华文书的兴趣。
绘本馆也会定期邀请一些绘本作家前来，与孩子们一起进行一堂阅读课，并借此机会让同学们爱上阅读。与此同时，我们也有幸邀请了一群家长义工，一同与学生们读绘本、做手工。

Parent Volunteers Needed!
Currently, we have about 10 parent volunteers who are helping out in the Chinese Pictorial Corner. They read Pictorial Books to the pupils during recess and encourage them to make cards, bookmarks as well as small picture books which they can bring home as a form of momento.
Working Hours:Mondays to Fridays (Parent Volunteers can choose a day which they are free to help out), from 9.20am till 10.50am.
*CL Pictorial Books Corner will be closed every thursday to enable the parents to arrange and catalogue new books.If you are interested to become one of the Reading Angels, please kindly email Lim Ke Xin lao shi at:

用吸管制作迷你粽子 Using straws to make mini dumplings
南洋小学绘本馆又有最新动向！
为了配合即将来临的端午节，老师与家长义工一起携手教同学如何利用吸管制作粽子！
家长义工Helen正在教小朋友们怎么做“迷你粽子”，学生们也在认真地学。
那天人潮汹涌，每个同学都无比兴奋，想把“迷你粽子”带回家！:)
两位家长都非常有耐心地教导同学们如何制作。虽然步骤不简单，但孩子们仍然坚持到底，不放弃。
一年级的同学也聚集在一起讨论，学会了分享吸管和什么是“粽子”。
希望孩子们都喜欢这次的制作过程哦！:)

南洋小学绘本馆成立于2009年11月初。当时成立绘本馆的目的是希望能够吸引更多孩子对华文绘本有更深的认识，进而加强他们的阅读兴趣。
绘本馆除了定期购买新的绘本之外，同时也邀请了家长义工前来拔刀相助，帮忙把绘本介绍给各年龄层的孩子，让他们从小就对阅读华文书籍有兴趣。
